are running into issues with mucroom dropping response messages (i
suspect because they have an empty body).

Archiving may go into gloox 1.1 or a future version.
Meanwhile, you should be able to implement it yourself, though, using IQs.

We are using gloox 0.9.8 library for IM client for XMPP communication,
it is really good one for XMPP communication.
We are expecting message archiving for chat message in Instance Messenger.
Can we have message archiving support in gloox -0.9.8?
If Yes, How can we get message archive for each roster on a given time
period with some sample code please
If No, Can you please take it as an enhancement task for gloox library
